Children’s Jewellery Gift Ideas

Everyone loves jewellery, and children are not alone in this. It’s easy to pick up ‘toy’ jewellery for them to use when dressing-up or play-acting, but it’s a good idea to buy more expensive items, too.  Children’s Jewellery is a great investment and, in the case of the very young, a good collection that is started in the early years, can prove to be very valuable in years to come.

A piece of jewellery is a great choice of gift to celebrate the birth or naming ceremony of a baby, and there are several items available.  Silver and gold rings are particularly collectable but care must be taken that, if the child wears the ring, it fits well, eliminating the risk that it may come off and be lost or, worse, swallowed.

Simple pieces such as a gold cross and chain, or a silver bangle, will be an easy way to start what could turn into a big collection over the years, gaining in value every year.  Another great choice, especially for a girl, would be a charm bracelet. The beauty of this is that it can be added to by buying a new charm as the child celebrates her birthday every year.  There is a huge choice of charms available nowadays and, as an investment, charm bracelets are highly prized by collectors of jewellery.

One of the most important aspects of choosing jewellery for babies and children, is to make sure that the pieces are photographed, including any hallmarks or other identifying features such as engraving, and adequately insured. While this may not result in the return of the item should it be lost or stolen, it will at least ensure that the piece can be replaced with something equally valuable in the child’s collection.

There are plenty of modern ideas for presents for children but nothing beats a beautiful piece of jewellery as a gift that will bring pleasure and increase in value.
